As more information about Boosie Badazz’s arrest surfaces, it seems the feds found out Boosie was handly firearms after seeing him on Instagram Live.
In a criminal complaint unsealed by a judge, federal prosecutors communicated that Boosie’s May 6 arrest came after local police saw the rapper in an Instagram video of a “known gang member,” wearing a “black handgun tucked into his back waistband of his pants.”
And Boosie is a convicted felon.
A felony conviction can come with more than imprisonment and a fine, whether rendered in state or federal court. Under a federal statute, possessing a firearm or ammunition is illegal for any person found guilty of an offense punishable by more than 1 year in prison. Further it is unlawful for a person convicted of a felony to ship, transport, receive, or possess a firearm or ammunition.
Possessing a firearm or ammunition when prohibited by federal law – whether as a convicted felony or meeting other criteria is punishable by imprisonment for up to 15 years and/or a fine.
Federal prosecutors have charged Boosie with violating federal laws barring a previously convicted felon from possessing a firearm (the rapper was previously convicted on drug charges in Louisiana in 2011).
